Departure in the morning from Dakar for the Sine Saloum. Visit a weekly market on the way where all the inhabitants of the surrounding villages meet once a week to sell, buy or barter all kinds of goods ranging from lighter stones to zebu, through spices and other second-hand clothes. A market very rich in colors and smells.
Continuation to the bank of the Saloum river where we will take a traditional motorized pirogue for a ride through a maze of sea arms and the river. You will be able to see pelicans, herons, egrets…
Lunch in a restaurant on one of the Saloum islands. Continue to Palmarin, check into the ecolodge. In the afternoon, depart by horse-drawn carriage for a visit to the village and salt mines.
Dinner and overnight at the ecolodge. In the morning, drive to Joal-Fadiouth, an old animist Serer village where the first president of the Republic of Senegal was born. Visit the city and the artisanal port considered the largest in Senegal and continue to Fadiouth.
Connected to Joal by a wooden bridge, the village of Fadiouth is built on a shell mound. Its millet granaries on stilts implanted in the river and its Catholic cemetery make the charm of the animist village of Catholic adoption. A one and a half hour walk through the neighborhoods. Return to your hotel.
