Program

Day 1: Airport – Somone

Arrival of your flight. Transfer to your hotel in La Somone. Free dinner (not included) and overnight stay at Hotel Africa Queen or similar.

Day 2: Somone – Diass Airport – Ziguinchor Airport – Ziguinchor

Breakfast. Transfer to Diass Airport for your flight to Ziguinchor (schedule to be determined based on availability).

Upon arrival at Ziguinchor Airport, a transfer will take you to your hotel Kadiandoumagne or similar. Lunch on your own (not included). Tour of Ziguinchor, an ancient colonial town, a small capital founded in 1645 by the Portuguese and later occupied by the French. Visit the historic center with its Saint-Antoine-de-Padoue Cathedral and Saint-Maur-des-Fossés Market. Dinner at a restaurant in Ziguinchor and overnight stay.

Day 3: Ziguinchor – Koubalan – Ouonck

Breakfast. Head towards Koubalan. Visit the village, where the first elementary school was established in the Kalounayes area, encompassing villages from Tobor to Dieba. Explore the Kalounayes forest.

Lunch at a village campsite. Continue towards Ouonck. Dinner and overnight stay at a campsite with an Ecoumba Karamba mask dance evening (the forest pig).

Day 4: Ouonck – Kongoly – Marsassoum – Sedhiou

Breakfast. Head to Kongoly, known for its mask dance. It’s an area where the wells can reach a height of 30 meters.

Visit the village. Pass through the Marsassoum bridge to reach the town of Marsassoum, predominantly inhabited by an ethnic group called the Mandingoes, known for their involvement in the expansion of the Muslim religion.

Enjoy a local lunch consisting of white rice, grilled fish, and the famous green hibiscus / okra at a local restaurant. Continue towards Sedhiou, the capital of Pacao. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel (La Palmeraie or similar).

Day 5: Sedhiou – Île au Diable – Sedhiou

Breakfast. Then head to the “île au Diable” (Devil’s Island) by canoe. This island has a funny anecdote: if we return with fruits that are found on the trees of this island, on the way back, the canoe will overturn! Feel free to test it out!

Lunch at Sedhiou. Visit Sedhiou: the market, the corniche, the fort of Piné Laprade. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Sedhiou – Kolda

Breakfast. Then head to Kolda. On the way, visit the rice fields.

Arrive in Kolda, which is a city inhabited by the Peulhs ethnic group. Visit the city: the place of rituals for women’s fertility called Moussa Molo Baldé Square, the market… Visit the Sam Pathé hatchery and the Sow Ranch, an agro-ecological farm. Lunch during the day. Dinner and overnight stay in Kolda.

Day 7: Kolda – Carrefour Diaroume – Kaolack

Breakfast. Then head to Kaolack via Diaroume crossroad.

Lunch in Kaolack. Visit the market. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Kaolack – Simal

Breakfast. Then head to Sine Saloum. Check-in to your accommodation.

Lunch. Take a charrette ride to explore the surrounding villages. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Simal – Airport

Breakfast. Free morning in the beautiful setting of the Ecolodge, with the possibility of swimming in the pool or lagoon.

Lunch and then transfer to the airport according to your flight time.

End of service.
