This 8-day tour will take you from the Dakar region to Saint-Louis, and then to the Sine Saloum. You’ll discover a rich and unique nature, such as the Lac Rose, the Lompoul Desert, and the Langue de Barbarie. You’ll also navigate through the mangroves and eventually visit Gorée Island.
This trip stands out for the authenticity of the selected accommodations, ranging from guesthouses to charming hotels, lodges, and campsites, far from standardized establishments.
Program
Day 1: Airport – Dakar
Welcome to Blaise Diagne International Airport. Transfer to your hotel in Dakar.
Day 2: Lac Rose – Lompoul
Breakfast. Transfer to Lac Rose. Lunch on-site, then departure via the beach if the tide permits to reach the Lompoul Desert.
Mauritanian tea, trekking in the dunes, and camel ride if desired. Dinner at the campsite. Spend the night in your Mauritanian tent.
Day 3: Lompoul – Sowène
Breakfast. Departure for the Langue de Barbarie. Lunch. Free afternoon by the river, opportunity for a kayak excursion to the ocean. Drinks followed by dinner at the Lodge. Night in bungalows on stilts facing the river.
Day 4: Sowène – Saint-Louis
Breakfast. Departure for Saint-Louis. Check-in at a guesthouse or charming hotel.
Lunch in town followed by a horse-drawn carriage tour. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Saint-Louis – Djoudj – Saint-Louis
Breakfast. Departure for Djoudj National Park, the third largest bird reserve in the world. Lunch facing the Senegal River.
Dinner at leisure in Saint-Louis and overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 6: Saint-Louis – Mbour – Saloum
Breakfast. Departure for Mbour where you will have lunch.
Continue to Saloum and check-in at your lodge, amidst a lagoon. Dinner and overnight stay among the baobabs.
Day 7: Saloum – Bandia – Gorée
Breakfast. Departure to the Bandia Reserve (giraffes, rhinoceroses, gazelles, zebras, warthogs…).
Lunch in the reserve facing the crocodile pond. Proceed to Gorée. Cross over by rowboat. Dinner and overnight stay at your hotel on the island.
Day 8: Kaolack – Gorée Island – Aéroport
Breakfast. Visit to Gorée, followed by lunch on the beach. Transfer to Dakar. Drinks in the local hangouts in the Almadies district.
Crossing by canoe to reach Ngor Island. Dinner on the island. Transfer to the airport.
